Who 'likes' to do laundry? This dark and drab BEFORE provided the minimum function, is located in an entry, and directly off a main space in the home (open for guests to see). We provided a design that looks classic, clean, and sophisticated, yet allows for maximum storage and function.

Keeping it very Anthropology...

One of Ellie's Clients purchased this shower curtain from Anthropologie. Because their home has many custom characteristics... this standard shower curtain needed length in order to work. Her solution... 1) add length to the bottom [hiding the seam of course], and 2) add a valance up top. We wanted to be careful to not take away the "Anthropologie" look. So, another shower curtain was purchased. We took length of the bottom of one, and added it to the other. Then, we selected a medallion design from the middle of the shower curtain and had them cut out and appliqued onto a custom pleated valance. I drew the valance with the two finger pich pleat because I thought it would still keep the clean lines the client desired, but still add the "vintage" look that Anthropologie has. What do you think?

Making your mark...

I have had the opportunity to work with a client who like many of our clients, has a specific vision and has asked for our design services to turn that vision into reality. This particular project is a perfect example of what we mean when we say "the DETAILS are what make the spaces spectacular". Ellie has worked with this client from the ground up and has made each inch of this house functional and special... even when it comes to the 8" strip of wood floor, in the doorway, that separates the Master Suite from the Hallway. The master suite floor has been stained very rich and dark, while the hallway has a beautiful nutmeg glow. So, how can we make that transition without doing the normal transition strip? We have an Artist paint a design to divide the two. Not only that... but because these owners will the first to dwell in the home and have made it custom for their family... we decided to make a unique design that signifies their accomplishment and notates them as the first to reside here. Initially - Monogram comes to mind. Then, it is mentioned that being able to see it both ways would be ideal. Also, to have a more discreet design would be more visually appealing. After playing with the letters quite a few times... this is what I came up with. Can you make out the letters? Lastly we added a border to make the transition smooth between the two wood tones.

GOING GREEN

Recently we had the opportunity to work with some "Green Products" because we have been working on a building that is to become "Platinum Certified" and also, another that is to become "Silver Certified".

Many people think of "Green Products" as not being very attractive. The pictures in this posting are all "Green Products", meaning that they are made from recycled content. Examples of this kind of material would be paint with no VOC's to reclaimed timber.


Many companies now are providing more choices that will provide points towards getting a building "LEED
Certified".

"Green Products" are products that are made with pre-consumer recycled content, post-consumer recycled content, are energy efficient, recyclable, low emitting material, a renewable source or is located with 500 miles of its end use.
